Schools were started soon after white settlers arrived in central Wisconsin. Gary Gisselman will discuss “Early Schools in Marathon County,” another topic in the Marathon County Historical Society’s History Speaks series. This presentation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2020, at the Woodson History Center, 410 McIndoe St., Wausau. Schools came early in the history of Marathon County. One-room schools, parochial, and early school houses throughout the area all represented the great desire to provide an education to young people of the County. Gary Gisselman is the Research Librarian at the Marathon County Historical Society. There is no admission fee; however, donations are appreciated. Registration is not required. The Historical Society is grateful to Janke Book Store and to Compass Properties for their sponsorship of the History Speaks series.
